Story
Upanishads are mankind's oldest works of philosophy, predating the earliest Greek philosophy. They are the concluding part of the Vedas, the ancient Indian sacred literature, and mark the culmination of a tradition of speculative thought first expressed in the Rig-Veda more than 4,000 years ago. Remarkable for their meditative depth, spirit of doubt and intellectual honesty, the Upanishads are concerned with the knowledge of the Brahman, the Ultimate Reality, and man's relationship with it.

The metamorphosis of Mumtaz Ali Khan into Sri "M", a yogi with profound knowledge of the Upanishads and deep personal insights, is born of first-hand experiences with higher levels of consciousness....

BEST Yoga Sutras Choice!
Sri Swami Satchidananda is so good at distilling and simplifying the Yoga Sutras in his commentaries. No one seems to understand the very Soul of this 3'000+ text the way Sri Satchidananda does. I even bought the pocket size paperback edition of his Yoga Sutras. The translation is accurate, and his commentary explains the more difficult concepts to grasp, especially for the Westerners most likely to be reading or listening to this.
I've listened to a few Yoga Sutras audiobooks before, and listened to a good bit of commentary as well. Many hours of it. But this is truly the best choice for anyone seriously interested in a REAL understanding of Yoga. Couldn't be happier with this purchase!

The blue print to happiness, is reviled
A true and simple account of what can be attained if one needs to become completely happy without limits and boundaries.
Unlike religious teachings, these sutras present reader with what seems like logical and natural explanations without relying on the belive system of accepting without really explaining.
This book needs to be read, and re-read many times over in order to realize its benefits as our journey through life is a long path that offers the realization of achieving heavenly life on earth. Omm Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.

Exactly what I needed
This recording of the Yoga Sutras is an exemplary rendition of a complicated text. It includes authentic reading of the titles, astute commentary, and a very fine narrator. This is how ALL interpretations of these ancient Indian texts should be presented. You might notice I panned (and returned) another recording with the exact same title, so don't confuse the two. THIS is the one you want!

Music in between each Sutra became annoying.
Overall, listening to this audio book was interesting and educators. I found the option of being able to pause at any point and to type digital notes very convenient and used this option wuite often throughout the audio play.
However, I did find the narration quite monotone also, the music refrain played just before each sutra, became annoying.
I my ears would prefer either soft short instrumental otherwise, silence.
