About this listen
Here is one of the greatest English comic novels read by incontrovertible king of English comic audiobook readers, Martin Jarvis. Three men, worried about their health and in search of different experiences, set off 'up the river' in a boat. Jerome's delightful novel, dating from 1900, paints a vivid picture of innocent fun.

Enthralling

JKJ has outdone himself in that respect and balanced the two with unequalled aplomb!
The only grouse that one may have is the too frequent switching of the narrative between reminiscences and happenings - not entirely bad mind you but a trifle too often. On the whole it was a dashed funny story that I reckon formed the base for PGW's books that came in this one's future - the similarities are striking!
A final word about the reading.. you cannot go wrong with a story (or any text for that matter) read by the great Martin Jarvis.. o what a pleasure it is to listen to his voice narrating a tale to you.. his intonation, tempo, pitch and vocal changes are - I imagine - the stuff of legend and quite rightly so.
Very funny - superbly read!
