Publisher's Summary

Is it possible to heal by thought alone - without drugs or surgery? The truth is that it happens more often than you might expect. In You Are the Placebo, Dr. Joe Dispenza shares numerous documented cases of those who reversed cancer, heart disease, depression, crippling arthritis, and even the tremors of Parkinson's disease by believing in a placebo. Similarly, Dr. Joe tells of how others have gotten sick and even died the victims of a hex or voodoo curse - or after being misdiagnosed with a fatal illness. Belief can be so strong that pharmaceutical companies use double- and triple-blind randomized studies to try to exclude the power of the mind over the body when evaluating new drugs.

Dr. Joe does more than simply explore the history and the physiology of the placebo effect. He asks the question: "Is it possible to teach the principles of the placebo, and without relying on any external substance, produce the same internal changes in a person's health and ultimately in his or her life?" Then he shares scientific evidence of amazing healings from his workshops, in which participants learn his model of personal transformation, based on practical applications of the so-called placebo effect. The book ends with a "how-to" meditation for changing beliefs and perceptions that hold us back - the first step in healing.

You Are the Placebo combines the latest research in neuroscience, biology, psychology, hypnosis, behavioral conditioning, and quantum physics to demystify the workings of the placebo effect and show how the seemingly impossible can become possible.

Deeply engrossed in the book all through the renditions. Each chapter leaves you with wanting to experience more. Hoping that anyone who reads this book is blessed with the wisdom it radiates.

Could Have Been Perfect

You have to buy the meditations separately.

Most of the book provided case studies to back up the author's theories, which were great, very convincing. But when I finally got to the "how"... the author recommends going to his website to buy the MP3 meditations.

I also noticed they're for sale on Audible.

They're also included in the PDF that comes with the Audiobook, but they should have been read by the author as part of the cost of buying the book.

So in hindsight, would have been better to just read a review of the book instead, then spend the money on the actual guided meditations.

Dr. Joe does great work. I applaud his contribution to society, on the whole.

Excellent information to heal yourself!

This CD really blew my mind! Dr. Joe Dispenza is one incredible human being, and he's made his life's work to help others become whole, to be healed on every level. There is a PDF that goes along with the book. It's located in the Audible library next to the audio book.

Great book, but no meditations!

This is a really great book that gives you excellent insight into the why and how of your limiting beliefs. There is a major draw back to getting the audible version which is that you do not get the actual meditations because they are tables or figures in the book that are not actually read to you in the audible version.

I think the information is very valuable and true. Explained nicely. I wish it came with a PDF to be able to look at the slides mentioned.

Graphics

I was disappointed to find there was no way to see the graphics and the appendix in the audio version. Other books I have listened to have provided a link to view graphics. Especially with this one and the meditations in the appendix. You lost a little bit of credibility and wow factor when we entered the info-mercial world at the end.

Great info, not so great narrator

I loved this book. It's full of some amazing and inspiring stories and information. My only problem was the narrator. He read this book so slow, pausing so many times in between words that I found it very distracting and boring.I had to listen to the book at 1 and a half times faster. Overall the book is still worth listening to for the info but try not to fall asleep.

An infomercial in book form

If you are wanting to learn about the workshops that Dr Dispenza offers then maybe this book is for you. If you are looking to have his theories explained in depth. Not so much.

Lacks substance

This gave some overview of epigenetics, but was largely centered ona anecdotal accounts of healing related to his workshops. Not any real practical material.

Disapointing

Unfortunately the audiobook does not include the guided meditations which are the heart of the program. If they were included i would give this book a 5 star rating.

A cover to sell his seminars

This guy’s books are just a cover to sell his seminars, meditations and other tools.
He talks on and on about his seminars and how people attending them see huge improvements,-for the large portion of his books.
You don’t need to spend any money or buy any tools to be able to mediate and materialize what you want. People have been doing it for centuries. You just need to believe it’s possible for you.

Be careful when buying this book

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This book should have contained at least one meditation. To get through the book to finally be told here are the meditations but before you can do them you must go to my website and pay for them. I'm sorry but this really makes. Me feel like it is a book playing on the very vulnerable in society who are looking to heal their lives.

What aspect of Adam Boyce’s performance might you have changed?

The book does become rather monotonous and I found myself cutting off several times.

Any additional comments?

Just please be aware that this book has a lot of reference to pictures that as we are audible listeners we don't get. It also doesn't include any meditations either to get these you must use another credit or pay for an audio cd. Quite worrying to have got through the book to then be told to further your meditation you must go to a website and buy them. I feel so sad that this has happened and it totally ruined my enjoyment as I feel this is should be very clear from the beginning. I made my way through the dull parts with my positive mind eager to try this miracle meditation. I'm very unhappy and the whole positive message on the book has been lost for me. I guess I'm just being stupid to think that money is not the under lying thing for these people. This book would have been brilliant if as an audible listening you got free access to at least one meditation as we obviously are missing the pictures to miss out on both leaves this book very high on my list of disappointments.

This is one of the best reads Ever. It didnt only make me think of newton's law, made me me understand that basic physics on a quantum level controls all outcomes. I have never seen particlr science this clear

Interesting thoughts

The idea of the book is strong. The beginning as well, but after a while, he is telling more of the same. The chapter about quantum mechanics is painful to read for me as a PhD in it. It's mostly not even wrong, he is making sentences from words that do not even make sense.

Better than an antidepressant

Since putting the principles laid out in this amazing book in to my own life I have been experienced tremendous release from crippling anxiety. Although not totally free (at this stage) I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Honestly, this teaching is better than antidepressants. They just left me feeling like a zombie with no emotions. I can't believe how good I am feeling. The mind is so powerful.

Read this book and learn about the power of your thoughts and brain. Not as good as Breaking The Habit, but fascinating nonetheless.

Like winning lotto. We only ever hear about the success stories. How many millions have tried this to no avail. It requires a certain mindset.

Wow. I have this power in my head?

Very very interesting claims and information. The illustrating stories are very effective in aiding the information in the book. I found the science of the brain very interesting. I do not have a science/anatomy/physiology background so I have no idea if the authors claims are correct scientifically. But he sure is convincing and if his claims are correct, then the future will be a very exciting place to be, to see what ways we can influence our genetics and current states. I found the first 12 or 13 chapters very interesting but the end of the book was a little slower.

I really loved the message of this book and the examples they used. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 as there was a small section that I felt dragged a little bit. but the overall message of the book is life changing and comforting. I definitely recommend it

Groundbreaking, practical.

Helpful for chronic illness. You do have to buy the mediation separately, but they are worth it.
