Publisher's Summary

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few. So begins this most beloved of all American Zen works. Seldom has such a small handful of words provided a teaching as rich as this famous opening line of Shunryu Suzuki's classic. In a single stroke, the simple sentence cuts through the pervasive tendency students have of getting so close to Zen as to completely miss what it's all about. An instant teaching in the first minutes. And that's just the beginning.

In the 30 years since its original publication, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind has become one of the great modern Zen classics. Suzuki Roshi presents the basics in a way that is remarkably clear and resonates with the joy of insight. Listeners will refer to this audio time and time again as an inspiration to practice.

So good. Right now.

Keep the beginner's mind forever. Iconoclastic. Inspired. Mahayana with a twist i. e. Zen.

Good introduction to Zen

Everyone I know who has read this book have told me that this book has improved their lives. For me I am not that moved.
I think for people who are new to spiritualality, this book might be a good and impactful start.

It is a relaxing experience.

I listened to it while wandering the lands of Skyrim which belongs to the Nords of course. But then again, it is a really good book for introducing yourself to the very basics of Buddhism. And it may also be the only book you read about Buddhism and still understand it completely.

Trippy Zen Book

It’s an interesting book on what Buddha is, and what Buddha is not. It’s rather simplistic yet too complex. The tone of the book is pretty much like my above lines. I recommend that you read this book over a period of at least a week. Let the lessons synch in.
