Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham City. A battle of teams that aren't very good at playing away from home, and a golden chance for the Blues to finally get three points on the road. What BCFC met was a spirited SWFC team, lining up with Emile Heskey's son on the pitch and Nathan Redmond on the bench.

Blues, meanwhile? Three new signings, none of them starting. A forward line that's not been firing away from home. No sign of a clean sheet. And the small matter of Kyogo.

Birmingham City's wretched away form suggested that an away trip to Swansea City - with their great home form - was not what was required. With Keshi Anderson and Lyndon Dykes leaving in midweek, and injuries rife, the Blues squad looked thing. And a subs bench for the Championship match with U21 players pointed to part of the problem.

It's FA Cup third round weekend, and EFL Championship residents The Blues found themselves drawn away at a misty Cambridge United. A feisty EFL Championship encounter between Blues and Derby at St Andrews ended in a 1-1 draw with both teams having had a player sent off. Ah, you can't beat Boxing Day football.

For Chris Davies this must feel likes points dropped. For John Eustace, he ended up with a yellow card on his return to BCFC.
