In this first episode of Bloom Anyway, I share the story that started everything for me. On the morning of September 11, 2001, my family was living in San Diego on an exchange posting with the Royal Australian Navy. That day changed the course of our lives.
From a quiet street near Miramar Marine Corps Base, I learned that resilience is not born in calm moments. It grows in uncertainty, in fear, and in the simple act of doing the next small thing. I talk about those days of worry, the walks with my children, the garden that kept me grounded, and how the B.L.O.O.M. framework began to take root in that desert soil.
