Welcome to the first episode of Positive Advice – a brand new podcast brought to you by Chiva, the charity supporting young people and young adults growing up with HIV to live healthy, happy lives and be more in control of their future.
Hosted by Eli Fitzgerald, this series explores life growing up with HIV, using stories recorded at the International AIDS Conference in Montreal, July 2022, as part of Chiva’s Positively Spoken Oral history project.
In this first episode we explore how HIV is experienced in families - including how it can be difficult to have open conversations about HIV at home, and how to get through some of these difficulties. Chiva CEO Amanda Ely and guest expert Fungai Murau join us sharing insights, tips and advice. Ruth Muko from Chiva also drops in to share some of the responses to the life story recordings from young people at Chiva, and Dr Wendy Rickard, Oral Historian on Chiva’s Positively Spoken project, tells us more about Oral History.
