国際協力の道を目指す人々、これからキャリアを積もうとしている人々へのアドバイスとして、"履歴書を武装すること" を挙げられていました。チャンスが舞い込んできたときに、いつでもそのチャンスを掴める用意をしておく、というのが大変印象的でした。

For Episode 7, we welcomed Professor Satoshi Kusaka from Naruto University of Education as our guest speaker.

Two sessions ago, we talked mainly about his career in his 20s — and this time, we dove deeper into his journey through his 30s and 40s.

Topics we explored:

– What does a consultant in international development actually do?

– What are the biggest challenges?

– His first impressions when he landed in South Sudan

– Why he decided to become independent

– What it means to work as a university professor

etc.

One of the most memorable messages he shared for those pursuing international development or shaping their future careers was:

“Arm your résumé.”

In other words, always prepare yourself so that when an opportunity comes, you’re ready to seize it. That mindset left a strong impression on all of us.
