Cue “What Dreams Are Made Of,” because we are traveling to Italy in this wonderful episode featuring my classmate Alessandro and his partner, Megan! Alessandro shares what it has been like immigrating from Italy to the US, and Megan talks about her experience visiting all of Alessandro’s family in Italy. Megan then explains some of the awesomeness that is genetic counseling and bioethics! And as Alessandro and Megan approach the end of their 2-years of long-distance, they reflect on the challenges and successes of their relationship. They highlight the importance of supporting each other through waves of life and a career. In this incredible episode, I am so pleased to interview my classmate, Clark! Clark shares some wonderful insights into prioritizing relationships and navigating conversations about big life events, such as marriage. We discuss some of our tactics for respectfully leaving the hospital when the team might forget that the med student is still there, and Clark touches upon some of the ways he prevents medical school from taking control of what matters most to him.
