  • 5 People Who Walked Into the Maine Wilderness… and Never Returned
    Mar 26 2026

Maine is a place where the GPS cuts out and the wilderness takes over — a landscape of deep forests, forgotten logging roads, and secrets older than memory. Tonight we explore five real disappearances where people stepped into the Maine woods… and were never seen again.

From a boy on a red tricycle to a hunter whose tracks simply stopped in the snow, from a grieving widow on the Appalachian Trail to a young man swallowed by the timberlands, and finally a quiet homeowner who vanished without a trace — each story reveals a different face of mystery. Some cases feel like wilderness tragedies. Others hint at something darker. All of them leave behind the same haunting question: How can a person vanish so completely that no trace of them is ever found?

  • Acadia After Dark Podcast Episode 33: It Welcome to Derry with Nomar Slevik
    Dec 27 2025

    Good evening hikers,

If you're from Maine you can’t talk about horror without at least mentioning Stephen King. With the first season of It: Welcome to Derry, audiences got a new chapter in the story of Pennywise but how did the show stack up in the eyes of a couple of people who live there? Well, we have thoughts.

I sat down with my friend, Nomar Slevik, and we discussed our feelings about the show, the themes that it touched on and some predictions for the next season. Since we do discuss the finale there are heavy spoilers in this video so don't click if you haven't watched the series for yourself.

If you enjoy the show please like the video and share it with a friend. If you’re not already, make sure to follow or subscribe, whichever your preferred platform allows. Also, If you’re listening on Spotify give us a rating. It would really help the show out.

New episodes go up weekly. Check out our other series, Fearsome 5, where I explain a fearsome critter of Maine in five minutes or less. Fans of the first season of Acadia After Dark are going to want to check out Acadia After Dark: Campfire Stories. Local legends, listener stories, and maybe even a personal encounter or two all set to the sound of a cozy fire. Our Park Updates are your guide to surviving the supernatural bureaucracy of the worlds most haunted national park.

  • Acadia After Dark Park Update 6
    Nov 8 2025

    Good evening hikers,

Thank you for tuning in to another broadcast of Acadia After Dark’s Park Updates, coming to you live on ▇▇▇▇▇▇ we’re serving up Downeast dread, delivered weekly.

Tonight is no ordinary night. It’s the high holiday. The veil’s gone thin, the air’s gone sharp, and the old legends are restless. That’s right—it’s Halloween. Or Samhain, for those of you who still leave offerings at the crossroads.

    In the news this week:

    • A political leader’s old comments have resurfaced—cryptic, cruel, and maybe not entirely meant for human ears.

    • A string of wild animal attacks has local officials uneasy. They’re calling it rabies. We’re not so sure.

    • And a new congregation has taken root. The Cult of the Fly is renovating the abandoned church out on Evergreen Island. Lanterns burn late there, and the windows are never quite dark.
