About this listen

This is what you get when two Canadian women, who come from completely different backgrounds, serendipitously meet in a Brooklyn apartment. Alene Degian and Kristen Mandala became instant friends over their mutual sense of adventure, humour and tearing up the dance floor, which has since blossomed into a five year long friendship. Tune in every week as we have candid conversations about what we *thought* life would be like in our late 20s, and how our unique worldviews help us navigate all things personal, sexual, and professional.Copyright 2021 All rights reserved. • Hate it or Love it: Social Media
    Jul 29 2021

It's the season finale, baby and we're talking social media! Social media plays such a huge part in our lives and we definitely have a love-hate relationship with it. Have you ever even looked at the amount of time you spend on there every day? It might scare you....it did us! So this episode we're breaking it all down for ya. From when we got our first cell phone (where's the Nokia brick phone gang?) to taking social media breaks to finding our middle ground and establishing boundaries. We're bringing you another Hate it or Love it: Social Media Edition.

  • What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?
    Jul 22 2021

When you were a kid, did that question stress you out or excite you? Did you ever think it was crazy how we had to decide our futures at 17? Well, you're not alone. Not everyone knows what they want their future to look like before they've even become a legal adult. And if you do, that's cool too!

Both of us have non-traditional careers and took non-traditional paths to get there. There's been a lot of trial and error to get to where we are now. So, in true Accidental Friends fashion, we wanted to share how we figured out "what we wanted to do" and why it's totally okay to make a career change at any time!

  • What We Wish We Saw in Media
    Jul 15 2021

How often have you seen yourself represented on stage or screen? Someone that looks like you, acts like you, talks like you...and not an airbrushed version of you. If you're like us, it's not often. This week we discuss what we want to see more of in the media and why representation in the media is so important for our health, our growth, and our future generations.
