  • George vs Kimi: The Silver War pt.2
    Jun 11 2026

The battle between the Mercedes drivers is really heating up. The Canadian Grand Prix was a demonstration that Toto is happy to let them battle as long as they don't make contact. George showed Kimi the door in the sprint, but in the Grand Prix reliability struck. Join us this week as we discuss George's championship hopes, his strop at the end of his race, and how he can bounce back.

    In this week's episode:

    • Canadian GP Roundup: How things played out in Canada.

    • McLaren's Nightmare: Have McLaren become the new Ferrari?

  • Motorsport Needs Rivalries
    Jun 3 2026

Formula 1 and MotoGP have felt a bit stagnant over the last couple of years. Starting with Formula 1, the Max Verstappen ere, while impressive to watch, felt inevitable because there was no one to challenge him. He was racing against the clock, against the records, and against himself. Similarly MotoGP in 2025 felt much the same, it was inevitable that Marc Marquez was going to win the race, it was just a matter of when. This year, however, we seem to have rivalries everywhere. Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi are building towards an inter-team rivalry, as are George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, fighting for a world championship between themselves. A little further back, it seems Diggia and Acosta may have started something in Le Mans.

    In this week's episode:

    • MotoGP Roundup: All the bits we missed from Le Mans and Barcelona.

    • Junior Teams: Are junior teams really junior anymore?

    • Rivalries in Motorsport: Some of the best rivalries vs what we have now.

  • MotoGP's Lucky Escape
    May 27 2026

MotoGP had a lucky escape in Barcelona - 2 riders in hospital, 3 riders who shouldn't have gotten back on the bike, 2 restarts, an out of control bike flying across the track, and a safety commission that couldn't care less. As a community, we should look back on this as the moment we changed how safety is approached. The FIM need to step in and make the changes that stop dangerous accidents before they can happen.

    In this week's episode:

    • The Race: The race was a tense thriller from start to finish, without the crash it would have been insane.

    • MotoGP Safety Through the Years: A look back at some of the more recent incidents in MotoGP.

    • Alex Marquez's Huge Crash: The carnage that the crash brought hasn't been seen in a long time.

  • Kimi Antonelli will be the 2026 F1 Champion
    May 20 2026

This week on Ahead At The Apex, we take a good look at the new-age FIA, the listening FIA, the progressive FIA; yep, that's right, we're discussing the changes to the 2026 F1 regulations and how it has had an impact on the racing. But don't worry, the main chunk of this podcast is actually focused on our current championship leader - Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Mercedes man just can't stop winning at the moment and it's impressive to see. He's broken a huge amount of records in his short run in Formula 1, so far, and we're going to take a good look at them and why we think he could be Mercedes' first champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2020.

    In this week's episode:

    • The FIA Are Listening: The FIA are actually listening to fans, drivers, teams, manufacturers, and Formula 1; if you think that's odd, so do we.

    • Miami Grand Prix: Tim rants about how inconvenient and pointless it was to rearrange the Miami Grand Prix start time.

    • Kimi The Goat: Why Kimi Antonelli will become the 2026 F1 World Champion.

  • Finally Some WEC - Imola and Belgium
    May 15 2026

April is over, May is here and the racing can recommence. Join us this week as we discuss the first round of the World Endurance Championship in Imola and look ahead to the second round in Belgium. For complicated recording reasons, Belgium was last weekend, so we didn't know the results; in a way, that makes our predictions funnier, because we were very wrong. On top of that, we take a look at Marc Marquez's controversial move at the Spanish Grand Prix, as well as some recent changes int he 2026 and 2027 MotoGP regulations.

    In this week's episode:

    • WEC Imola: Final comments on round 1 of the World Endurance Championship.

    • WEC Belgium: A look ahead to round 2 of the World Endurance Championship.

    • WEC Livery Review: Our top pics for best livery of 2026.

    • Marc's Pitlane Masterclass: How did Marc drop his bike and still win the race?

    • Wildcard Rider Ban: Wildcard rider ban for a new set of regulations.

  • When F1 Was Better - Our Favourite Races
    May 6 2026

With April being pretty slow for racing in 2026, we decided to back up our recent rants about the state of F1 by giving some examples of races that were great, perhaps even our favourites. The rules were simple, choose a race from the last 26 years (2000-present), give a brief rundown of the events, and what made that race great. It could be anything from a tense battle at the front, a driver rampaging through the field, overtakes galore, or perhaps a total precession - anything goes! Join us as we run through 3 of the best races of the modern era.

In this week's episode we discuss:

    • Spain 2021: Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen at the peak of their rivalry. A demonstration in tyre strategy and management.

    • Germany 2013: Tyre-induced madness resulting in 2, 3, and 4 stop strategies that took an entire race to play out. Raikkonen hunts down Vettel for the win.

    • Canada 2011: The longest race in F1 history, Jenson Button chases down Vettel in the dying stages of an insane race.

    • April News: F1 and MotoGP news from the April break.

  • F1 Decision Making Through The Years
    Apr 30 2026

There's not been much racing since our last podcast, so as a bit of a special we decided to answer a burning question: has F1 become over-simplified in recent times? Well, to answer this we look back at the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and the current season's Japanese Grand Prix and determine all the decisions teams were allowed to make throughout the Grand Prix weekend. From running a 3rd driver in practice to automatic energy deployment, we go full in on a topic for the first time in a while. Let us know what you think, should we do more of this? We really enjoyed it.

In this week's episode we discuss:

    • Toyota on Top: Toyota start the world endurance championship on the same form they finished last year, a victory against Ferrari on home soil.

    • Genesis Rising: Newcomers Genesis broke all expectations in their first outing in Imola, can they continue this form for some good points later?

    • Heartbreak for McLaren: With half an hour to go, the leading Garage 59 car pulls over and allows a titanic battle between BMW and Corvette to occur.

    • F1 Decisions: F1 teams have it simple now right? It was much more complicated in my day, right? Come on the journey back in time with us as we discuss if teams really had it easier back then.

  • Martin Brundle must be Stopped
    Apr 15 2026

There may not be much racing going on at the moment but that hasn't stopped certain figures in positions of power or influence getting involved in the discussions surrounding how two of the biggest motorsports in the world should be governed. First up is F1, where perhaps the most famous voice of F1 in the modern era, Martin Brundle, has been making some noise about Max Verstappen retiring. Then we have the FIA, who are busy frantically making changes to their precious 2026 regulations following the horrible crash in Japan for Haas' Oliver Bearman. As if that wasn't enough, the FIM are currently under media scrutiny for the "new" track surface at the Brazilian GP that began to disintegrate on the first day of the weekend. It just isn't good enough, and we're going to have a good moan.

In this week's episode we discuss:

    • Brundle's Blunders: Martin's been making some noises about Verstappen and Norris, but his opinions don't seem to be consistent.

    • Max In or Out: Will this be the final season for Max Verstappen, has he got one more left in him or is GT racing drawing him away?

    • Where did the Track Go?: Why was the track surface such a nightmare at the Brazilian GP and can we trust the FIM to introduce a street circuit?

    • Battery Problems: F1's 2026 regulations haven't had a week without scrutiny, Bearman's crash should be enough to raise some red flag.
