Anna Julia Haywood Cooper rose to become one of the best-educated Black Women ever. She went on to earn a PhD at the Sorbonne in France, and excelled as an educator, university founder, author, sociologist, feminist, and an activist against all oppression. She published a seminal book, A Voice from the South, considered to be one of the first major works on feminism. Anna J Cooper died on this day in 1964 at the age of 105.
