This week we’re joined by our resident gun-toting, pseudo-American, sports-hating motor claims guru, Elise Lloyd. Between Australia and overseas, Elise has done just about every job imaginable in car insurance, making her the perfect person to explain why your “minor bumper tap” somehow turns into a six-page assessment report.

What we didn’t expect to uncover was Elise’s absolute fear of driving with passengers, something I discovered firsthand on the freeway recently. The experience rattled her manager, riding shotgun, enough to suggest she come on the podcast and three hours later this episode was born.

It’s claims chaos, questionable driving confidence and the sort of sideways yarns that prove insurance people really shouldn’t be left unsupervised with microphones.

This week our guest started his working life with livestock before making the natural transition to professional golf and eventually finding his way into insurance. Along the journey, he faced significant mental health challenges off the course. It’s a powerful and honest conversation that took us to places I never expected the podcast to go but I’m glad we tackled it head on rather than skimming past it.
