It's been one year of Are We Witches? and in honour of their first podcast anniversary, Lisa and Sarah venturing back to the topic of love.

Sarah shares her first forays into dating, including her first speed-dating experience, Lisa revisits her list describing her perfect partner, and they attempt some divination to see if this year is the year they'll find love again.

Familiars take many shapes and sizes; cute, cunning and spectral. Posited as a spiritual companion, Sarah and Lisa wonder what it means to be accompanied by a familiar today.

From the witch's black cat archetype to the spirit of a dead man sent from the Fairy Kingdom, the history of familiars is traced back to Early Modern England, where we find the first woman executed for witchcraft assisted by a cat named Sathan (pronounced 'Satan') and the "Witchfinder General" making wild accusations against diabolical animal spirits called Vinegar Tom, Pyewacket, and Grizzel.

There is also a tarot spread chosen by a cat (what could he be trying to tell us?), suggestions for supporting your local wildlife, and the calming power of rose quartz helps to soothe a familiar in an anxious moment.
