About this listen
Weingut Mayer am Pfarrplatz, the epitome of Viennese Heurigen culture, has a centuries-old tradition of crafting the finest Viennese wines since 1683. Vienna is the only metropolitan city in the world with notable viticultural areas within its city boundaries and its unique terroir. The wine-growing region of Vienna covers a surface area of approx. 640 hectares. Old vineyards were planted generations ago. Flysch and marl soils with plenty of shell limestone formed 3 million years ago, and more than 100 tiny sites with varying soil formations. Warm winds streamed in from the Pannonian plains versus the cooling influence of the Vienna Woods and the Danube River. All these unique factors produce excellent wines.
