• Anthony Milan Ross Sentenced To Death For Christmas Day Family Murders
    May 24 2026

In November 2025, the jury found Ross guilty on all counts.

During the penalty phase, prosecutors sought the death penalty, arguing Ross's crimes met statutory requirements: multiple victims including young children and a deliberate, premeditated plan. Defense attorneys urged jurors to consider mitigating factors.

The jury deliberated for two days.

On May 7, 2026, they returned their verdict: Ross should be executed on all three counts of first-degree murder. As the verdict was read, some jurors cried, as did people in the gallery including Iris's sister, Laura Sutherland.

Sutherland said: "In court he had been asking for mercy and sympathy, but there was no sympathy and no mercy for Iris and her children."

Ross is on death row awaiting execution. An automatic appeals process will follow.

  • Misty Roberts Hosted A Teen Party With Alcohol, Rapes Her Son's Friend, Her Brother Did The Same.
    Mar 14 2026

July 20, 2024. Misty Roberts, 43, mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana, hosted a pool party at her home for her son's birthday. She provided alcohol to the teenage guests, including her son's 16-year-old friend. Throughout the party, Roberts wore an orange bikini and flirted openly with the teen. Photos shown at trial captured her standing close to him. Prosecutors called the images "lewd and lascivious."Roberts led the boy to a "bonus room" in her home and locked the door. Her own son looked through a crack in the window and saw his mother having sex with his best friend. He later told investigators: "They were having sex." Roberts' daughter testified she saw them "on top of each other." Her nephew said he saw them "doing stuff" on the couch. The 16-year-old victim testified he was heavily drunk, had vomited from alcohol, and Roberts flirted with him before taking him upstairs and having sex with him. He ejaculated inside her, raising pregnancy concerns. After the party, Roberts texted the victim's mother asking if she could be pregnant. She replied she was on birth control. Roberts sent a screenshot to friends who urged her to take Plan B. A DoorDash driver testified he delivered emergency contraception to her home. Roberts texted her ex-husband Duncan Clanton: "I messed up. And I respect you enough to tell you." The next morning, she confessed the encounter to him.Roberts instructed her children and nephew to lie about what they saw, texting: "Lie 'til you die." She texted a juvenile witness: "Please make sure he doesn't say anything please. I'm scared to death." Clanton testified she confessed directly to him despite maintaining innocence publicly.Roberts resigned as mayor July 27, 2024, five days after the party. She was arrested August 1, 2024 on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile. She posted $75,000 bond. Roberts was the first woman elected mayor of DeRidder in 2018 and won re-election in 2022 with 60% of the vote.Trial began late February 2026. Defense attorney Adam Johnson admitted the photo of Roberts straddling the teen was "a real bad look" and argued "trying to be the cool parent in a divorce is stupid." The defense tried to exclude testimony about rumors of inappropriate behavior with Beauregard High School baseball team members. On March 4, 2026, the jury deliberated less than one hour: Guilty on both counts. Roberts sobbed audibly when the verdict was read. She faces up to 17 years in prison (10 years for carnal knowledge, 7 for indecent behavior) and must register as a Tier 1 sex offender. Her attorney Todd Clemons said: "At this particular point, there's no apology that I'm gonna give on her behalf." Roberts maintains innocence and plans to appeal. Sentencing April 17, 2026.In October 2024, her brother Brandon Lee Roberts, 40, pleaded guilty to raping an underage girl and young woman. • "He Meant The World To Me!!". Jayden Wallace Faces 15 Years For Killing His Teacher
    Mar 12 2026

On March 5, 2026, 3:00 PM. The Hall County School District sent an urgent message to students and parents warning against the annual "Junior/Senior Wars" prank tradition. "We cannot stress enough the importance of making responsible choices and thinking about the long-term impact of your actions," the message read.

That same night at 11:40 PM, five North Hall High School students drove to their math teacher's home in Gainesville, Georgia with toilet paper. They were there to "roll" Jason Hughes' trees—a harmless prank that had been part of the school tradition for years.

Jason Hughes, 40, knew they were coming. His wife Laura later said he was excited to catch them in the act. That's how the game worked—students earned points for successfully pranking a teacher's home, but lost points if caught.

When Hughes came outside, the five students ran to two vehicles to leave before being caught. As 18-year-old Jayden Ryan Wallace began driving his pickup truck away, Hughes ran toward the street, slipped on the wet pavement, and fell into the road. Wallace's truck ran over him.

Wallace and the other students immediately stopped. They got out and tried to render aid while waiting for emergency responders. Hughes was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Wallace was arrested March 7, 2026 and charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering on private property. He faces 3 to 15 years in prison if convicted. The other four students—Elijah Tate Owens, Aiden Hucks, Ana Katherine Luque, and Ariana Cruz, all 18—were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and littering. All five were released on bond.

But Jason Hughes' family doesn't want prosecution. His widow Laura Hughes, who also teaches at North Hall High, released a statement: "This is a terrible tragedy, and our family is determined to prevent a separate tragedy from occurring, ruining the lives of these students. This would be counter to Jason's lifelong dedication of investing in the lives of these children." The family fully supports dropping all charges.

Hughes was a math teacher and academic coach at North Hall High School. He worked with the football program helping student-athletes succeed academically. He led Bible studies for coaching staff every Friday morning and served as director of the Christian mentorship organization NG3 for seven years. He was known for asking one question: "How can I serve you better?"

The prank was part of the annual "Junior/Senior Wars" tradition at North Hall High. Rules posted on social media said no eggs, no paint, no weapons—just harmless fun. Teachers' homes were worth two points if both spouses were teachers. Jason and Laura Hughes both taught at the school, making their home worth four points. It had been pranked before—in March 2023, students toilet-papered their house and posted "Juniors +4" on Instagram.

On March 10, 2026, Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh released a statement saying the charges "were made without conferring with our office first" and that he would meet with the Hughes family "after an appropriate period of grieving." The DA's statement suggested charges may be reconsidered based on the family's wishes and circumstances.

Hughes is survived by his wife Laura and their two sons, Owen and Luke.
