About this listen
Join me as I review the gothic, coming-of-age, vampiric novel “Bloodborn”, and interview its awesome and deliciously talented author, Stephanie Kemler. Available on YouTube and your usual podcast platforms 😍
Bloodborn - the first novel of the “Bloodmad Duology”, a dark and brutal novel set in modern day but with all the gothic traits we want from a vampire story and some we didn’t even know we needed.
We follow Mina, a young woman who also happens to be a vampire. She has just escaped the torture of an horrifically abusive relationship and is trying to find her way in life again. Navigating through various forms of relationships - romantic, familial, her faith - Mina finds herself in worse trouble than even her past could muster.
After a bloody accident occurs, Mina’s life is changed forever and she is forced to deal with her inner darkness, the expectations of her community - which also happens to be a blood cult - and her past. To find peace again, she must fight a battle within herself and come to terms with the conflicting ideologies of the life she has built for herself and who she’s becoming. But just as she’s working this out, Mina comes to realise the past is never dead and buried for long.
An authentic and raw look at abuse, the debates of religious morality, isolation and family, “Bloodborn” is so much more than your average vampire novel.
“Bloodborn” and “Bloodmad” are available now on Amazon, Kindle and through Curious Corvid Publishers.
