About this listen
In this episode of Nuts and Bolts, host Jessica Sligter meets Norwegian-Mexican artist and producer Carmen Villain.
Carmen makes atmospheric music using field recordings, acoustic instruments such as flute, clarinet, piano, and electronics, culminating in her own distinctive sound that combines elements of fourth world, dub, and ambient.
Through her experimental approach to production and composition, the results are often a mixture of abstract, detailed soundscapes infused with beautiful harmonies, melodies and dubby beats. She has made a number of releases for labels such as Smalltown Supersound, Geographic North (USA) and Longform Editions (AUS).
This episode was edited and mixed by Jessica Sligter.
