Christian Zionism is a 19th century invention. John Nelson Darby manufactured dispensationalism in the 1830s, the Scofield Reference Bible canonized it in 1909, and Dwight L. Moody preached it into American evangelical culture from there. Two hundred years of doctrine sold to the modern church as two thousand. In this episode we take a hammer to the theology most American evangelicals treat as untouchable. Biblical Israel and the modern state share a name and very little else. Jacob was renamed Israel in Genesis 32, his descendants became a covenant people, and the political nation founded May 14, 1948 is not the same, no matter what your pastor may tell you.
