About this listen

City Awakening exists to awaken both skeptics and believers to the Gospel and equip them to reach the world. We want to see skeptics and believers seek truth, find joy in community, and live with purpose in our city. The three primary components of our community consist of: Gospel saturated worship, community, and multiplication.

  • God's Will - Matthew 6:9-11 & Matthew 26:36-39
    Feb 22 2026

"Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." - Matthew 6:10

Sometimes our desired will doesn't align with the Father's will. Life doesn't go the way we planned - careers stall, relationships struggle, dreams feel delayed. In those Gethsemane moments, we can learn from Jesus who prayed honestly about His desires but ultimately surrendered to the Father's will.

The Father answers our prayers in three ways: yes, no, or not yet. Each answer flows from His infinite wisdom and love. Just as the Father's "no" to Jesus became a "yes" for our salvation, His responses to our prayers are always working for our good.

  • Our Father - Matthew 6:5-9
    Feb 15 2026

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name." - Matthew 6:9

Jesus revolutionized prayer by inviting us into something extraordinary - calling the Creator of the universe "Our Father." This was the first time in history God gave such a personal invitation to approach Him relationally.

When we pray, we're not performing a ritual or trying to impress others with fancy words. We're having a conversation with our loving Father who already knows what we need before we ask.

The beauty of prayer isn't in its eloquence but in its intimacy. We can approach God with both relational affection ("Our Father") and exalted adoration ("hallowed be your name").

What would change in our prayer lives if we truly embraced both the intimacy and reverence of calling God "Our Father"?

  • What Does it Mean to Follow Jesus Today? - Luke 9:18-23 and Matthew 28:16-20
    Feb 8 2026

The biggest difference between a follower and a fan? Followers stick around for the entire journey, while fans only stay for the highlights. ⛪

Jesus calls us in Matthew 28:19 to "go and make disciples of all nations." This isn't just for pastors or missionaries - it's a command for every believer as we go about our daily lives.

Following Jesus means making a personal decision to live sacrificially, join His mission, and help others discover who He truly is. The question we must ask ourselves: Are we His followers or His fans?
