• Season 2: Let‘s run away with the Circus, with Vanessa Mayfield
    Oct 22 2021

Contortion, lolly pops, aerial, singing, dancing; what am I talking about?

    THE CIRCUS, of course!

Welcome back to another episode of Closet Conversations with your fabulous host. Mary Marshall. This week I am talking to the incredible Vanessa Mayfield; the aerial circus act.

We discover what it's like in this wonderful world; how she got there and, how we too can get involved.

Vanessa's zest for life and incredible energy have uplifted my day, inspired me to take on aerial for a challenge, and made me realise some of the hard truths to working in the creative industry.

Let's go on a journey to the circus; see you there!

  • Hypothetical Anxiety... But what if
    May 21 2021

But, what if nothing... yes nothing. What if nothing were not happen; ever thought of that one? Didn't think so.

I too can confess, that from time to time I have fallen victim to the' what if's' in life and created whole new hypothetical situations - actually stressed about them (as well as the actual issue), and even gone as far as to think of more 'what if' situations from the first 'what if' scenario!

    PHOA what an absolute drain!

Join me this week where I discuss the realities of anxiety and how all too often we create mountains out of mole hills. Find out some of the best ways to treat this rather toxic approach of thinking, and why we end up doing it in the first place.

I answer more of your questions and, as always we have a laugh along the way.

  • 15 Minute Meditation - Self Love
    May 14 2021

LITERALLY just what I need for a Friday. If you are like me, and have been working like crazy it's time we took a short amount of time for ourselves. Sit back, relax and listen in to a short meditation to help our minds re-focus, calibrate and reflect.

It's unbelievable what regular meditation can do for your mind and soul; even if it's just a few minutes each morning. Research shows it can reduce stress, help prevent aging, promote concentration and support better mental health.

I've been adding it to my morning workout ritual, and I've even been doing a few minutes before bed too. So far I can honestly say I feel calmer, more relaxed and my mind doesn't jump from thought to thought so much; in fact it's helped me to focus on problem solving rather than create hypothetical situations that I inevitably worry about... even though they never actually happen!

So give it a go and let me know your thoughts.

  • Twitter Tantrums #BeKind
    May 6 2021

We have all heard and seen the phrase banded around, #BeKind, so often now. But have we actually stopped to think about whether we ARE being kind?

Today I am talking about 'those' people; you know, the ones that have it written in their profiles, and look seemingly innocent... yet they then have the audacity to leave crappy comments all over the place, venting anger; name calling and cyber bullying...

Well no thanks, babe - it's not OK.

I think it's time we took back responsibility of our actions and take accountability for the results of these actions. Let's #BeKind together!

  • 'I Had a Miscarriage' with Dr. Jessica Zucker
    Apr 22 2021

One of the hardest topics to talk about, yet approximately 1 in 4 pregnancies actually end up in miscarriage. You are not alone.

Dr. Jessica Zucker talks to us about her miscarriage at 16 weeks from what happened; how she felt; what emotional reactions your mind and body go through; to the realities that many women have to face.

It's time to destigmatize miscarriage. It's time to talk about it. We cannot leave people to feel ashamed, alone, depressed or embarrassed. By bringing pregnancy loss to the forefront of conversation, the easier it will be for us to help those effected, and finally normalise some of the realities women face during their pregnancy journey.

I urge everyone to take some time to listen in. Not only could this conversation enlighten an ignorant mind (like mine, when it comes to pregnancy), but help those who have felt let down by society.

    Let's do this, together!

If you know a family that has been effected by pregnancy loss; someone who can't conceive, people going through IVF or adoption; let them know about this episode - it could just give them that little bit of hope.
