Eight years ago, author and content executive Laura Rowley opted to move her family from the big city to the much more peaceful and diverse (and less expensive and stressful) Midwest to raise her family. Now with her three daughters semi-launched into their own lives, she is writing her next chapter with two new homes — in Houston and New York City — even as she continues to build on the retirement savings she started at age 21.
