About this listen
This is an original cast performance of Code Crackers recorded in 1999 during the live performances. Written by Garry and Andy Wilkinson, with original score composed by Garry Wilkinson. All rights reserved and copyright Wilkinson Productions Ltd.
“CODE CRACKERS” © is a comedy-musical set in summer 1943 on the south coast of England when the Hollywood stars of the day, Rod Taylor and James Cagney, were posted in Dorset and iconic bandleader, Glenn Miller, entertained the GIs in Sherbourne. It is a coming of age story in which two schoolboy band members and their girlfriends become unlikely heroes as they uncover and foil a Nazi plot to kidnap Alan Turing, the eminent code cracker and inventor of the world’s first computer. It is an original, light-hearted, big band, swing-dance musical.
If you love swing and big band music, you’ll love this sound track of original, period-style songs, including the haunting “Steal Away” love song and many large set piece dance numbers in the vein of the classic MGM musicals.
