After the 2021 reboot divided fans with its major changes to the lore, characters, and tournament structure, Mortal Kombat II feels like a direct response to the criticism from the hardcore fanbase.

The sequel delivers more of what the fans actually wanted:

- Focusing on characters from the video game (NOT Cole Young)

- A stronger Mortal Kombat atmosphere

- And YES... Johnny Cage finally enters the franchise.
