Episode 12: Let's Do Something Together - Trash Pickup

In this episode, Anton discusses the opportunity to get out into your neighborhood and community to do a little beautification. Find a safe location to pick up some litter, either enough to fit into your own trash bin or if you see a larger project, Northwest Hospitality can provide you with resources and even volunteers!

In this episode we hope to inspire conversation and participation. Spark up a conversation with a friend or family member about homelessness in the area around where you live. Talk about anything: what's being done about it, how many people are affected, what's not being done about it, general attitudes toward people, how all these things effect cultural bias and local policy making, and, most importantly, how it makes you feel and what you might be able to do about it (or are doing about it) systemically or on a one-on-one basis. After your discussion, email anton@nwhospitality.org with a summary of what you discussed OR record your thoughts in a voice memo to send our way for use on the podcast.

Episode 7 - Why All the Trash and Why Do We Pick it Up?

Environmental Hospitality is one of Northwest Hospitality’s most successful and appreciated programs. 

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH TRASH?

It makes sense to be frustrated, angry, and confused about the litter generated by our un-housed neighbors. Why can’t they clean up after themselves? Don’t they want to keep their area clean so they don’t attract attention and get kicked out? How can they live like that? What about the environment? Why should we help pick it up, they’ll just trash it again.

These and other questions answered in this episode.
