After moving to Ontario and becoming a Registered Nurse, she steadily built her career, discovering a passion for creating change beyond direct patient care and into leading teams at the intersection of health care and technology.


    Gagan became involved in bridging the gap between health care and AI, contributing to initiatives that integrate technology into clinical practice. Through years of continuing education in business and leadership, she leveraged her nursing experience to transition into her role as a Robotics Specialist / Project Manager.


    Driven by a deep commitment to supporting both patients and clinicians, Gagan’s passion for empowering others has shaped her into an AI Transformational leader. She provides us with her experience as she worked through her masters degree to work now as a Professional Practice and Simulator Coordinator at Toronto Metropolitan University. She has a had a wide range of practice in acute care in the hospital and she tells us her story during COVID, how she battled through depression and what helped her with her mental health. Being away from the stress of those years and channeling her inner joy in dance she was able to thrive in the arts and her first love in dance. Join us as we talk about the importance of mental health, using physical activity and dance as way to battle depression and express yourself. With 4 years of experience in the Neuro ICU, and 4 years as a nurse practitioner in Cardiac surgery, she has now transitioned into her role of a nurse manager. We discuss what inspired her to work as a healthcare worker and why she has moved forward through her career taking on different leadership roles. With her passion for helping and pushing boundaries, she wanted to make a difference systematically. Not only has she finished her master's degree as an NP but also recently finished her master's degree in health administration to make a difference within the healthcare system. In this final chapter of my 3 part series of interviewing nurse practitioners, we get into it with exactly Stephanie’s story.     This is part of 2 of 3 of the nurse practitioner series. I have a special guest with me, Dalena. A seasoned emergency nurse for a decade, she talks about her experience starting from a new grad, on to the different departments of emerge. She talks the different roles she had ranging from triage, and what its like being a charge nurse. We talk about her growth and transition and why she became a nurse and what lead her to purse to become a nurse practitioner. From being uncertain of what she wanted to be, to staying the course in nursing, we share stories of being a new graduate and feeling the pressure. Currently, a nurse practitioner and working with a vulnerable group of homeless population, we get an insight on her role in harm reduction with her clients. The outreach clinic has provided care for this vulnerable population and Dalena explains what caring for them means to her. As humans we all look for ways to connect with others, and people in vulnerable sector are no different. We look for acceptance and hope for a better life. This was a great episode as we open up topics of the cycle of homelessness and how it deeply affects the community. Excited for you guys to tune in. Enjoy!
