 I’m Jan Neuberger, actor and woulda-coulda-shoulda writer. In 1985, facing my first holiday season as a spurned spouse, I unwittingly launched a tradition that has lasted forty years. It started with a Grinch-y party invitation and morphed into a yearly reflection on topics as varied as then-current events, road rage, crickets, the kindness of strangers—in short, on whatever seemed to me to open a frosty window onto the reasons for the season.
