About this listen
Thinking Beyond Papanek: Decolonizing Design Education: What's on now and next?
' is the third episode of this podcast series based on the event ‘Better design: Talking beyond Papanek’ in collaboration with Design Museum Den Bosch’s exhibition, Victor Papanek: The Politics of Design.
As a design practitioner and educator, Victor Papanek’s perception has contributed to formulating a large part of the western design discourse for the industry and education. However, his approach to deploying ‘other’ cultures into his narrative left space to reflect on the decolonial visions in design education and academia. Moderated by Ama van Dantzig (social entrepreneur and co-founder of Dr. Monk), and with guests Dr. Luiza Prado de O. Martins (founding member of Decolonising Design) and Dr. Michael Andrés Forero (Doctoral Researcher at Curatorial Research Collective, TU/e), we explore what ‘Decolonizing Design Education’ means in the context of Victor Papanek’s heritage.
The original event was streamed online on 18 March 2021 as an open discussion on Zoom.
