• Painting life's meaning | Joe Giordano
    Dec 5 2023

Fight of the evening: Tuscany vs. USA. Where the hell do you look for the meaning of life? In the left corner, the competitor Montegiovi: population 200, located in a picturesque Tuscan valley, superpower: tagliata and peposo. In the right corner we see Baltimore in the hurricane-experienced state of Maryland, made famous by the TV series The Wire, superpower: heavy industry and historic "nest of pirates." The two fighters will battle today for quality and meaning of life on behalf of Italy and the US. Chief judge: Joe Giordano. Internationally renowned painter, one of the most outstanding and famous contemporary American painters. He has Italian roots and for the past dozen years has spent summers in Tuscany where he is co-founder of La Baldi Residance. I invite you to a wonderful and deep conversation about the condition of the modern world, the understanding of art, what painting is and why it is more than a pleasure for snobs in art galleries. The whole conversation is set in the context of two worlds: The US and Italy, where Joe lives and between which he moves.

  • How to dance between the planned and the unexpected | Janani Balasubramanian
    Nov 16 2023

Janani Balasubramanian sets off on a journey deep into himself and Tuscany. He is looking for answers to questions about what time is, how to cheat it and how to escape from its linear jaws. The first stop is Montegiovi and the landscape that takes you out of the regular flow of reality. Later, you are carried away by birds during a two-hour dance. Should art be designed from the inside or the outside? What is the role of the creator and the audience in this? And what can you learn from an octopus? We live at a critical point in history, our future has never been so uncertain. So I'm looking for answers on how to find my way in the modern world by talking to people who are looking for a language to talk about the world, the past and possible scenarios for the future. Luke Gamrot: writer, journalist from Poland who moved to Tuscany invites you to the premiere episode of the new podcast Diavolo Toscano - a diabolical question, beyond borders. • How to escape the trap of time and space? | Cecilia Hedlund
    Nov 14 2023

Cecilia Hedlund from Sweden comes to Tuscany and meets an ancient mountain, and when you look at Monte Amiata, the mountain is looking at you. You open your eyes. You open the window. You open up to the mountain, an extinct volcano that still purrs under the parched skin of Tuscany. You feel a shiver run through your body. Birth. Life. Death. Cycles that we see and beyond which infinity lurks. It sits on the edge of the eye and runs away when we try to catch it. An amazing conversation with Cecilia Hedlund, one of the most famous and talented Swedish multidisciplinary artists, who will face the questions of the Tuscan Devil in a deep conversation about art and its magical role in breaking the structure of the world. In the Italian province, in the Grosseto region, in the village of Montegiovi with 200 people, questions are asked about the meaning of life, the meaning of being an artist, and the impact that art has on everyday life. All this is set in the context of the experiment of life in Tuscany and the clash with Italian culture. We live at a critical point in history, our future has never been so uncertain. So I'm looking for answers on how to find my way in the modern world by talking to people who are looking for a language to talk about the world, the past and possible scenarios for the future.
