Hello, knowledge seekers and nerds. I’m Heather B, one of the co-hosts on the medical history podcast called Doing Harm. Join myself and fellow co-host Megan as we dig into the more nefarious side of medical history that you probably didn’t learn growing up. We will examine methods, devices, and individuals that, while they may have contributed to the advancement of modern medicine, they also were clearly not holding up the Hippocratic oath that we have become familiar with today. Was there a better way? Was some of it sheer ignorance? Or were they just willing to look the other way and make some sacrifices for the “greater good”? We are just 2 best friends that met working in the ICU during COVID and found ourselves questioning, everyday, the efficacy and ethical parts of medicine both past and present. When do we know our limitations? Now, we have stepped out of the ICU to pursue other goals but still find ourselves speculating and sharing knowledge over a good drink and wanted to invite you all along for the conversation. Equal parts history, true crime, and personal opinion, we will surely have something to fuel your nightmares. Find us on Spotify, Apple Music, or almost anywhere you like to find your podcasts. Send us your requests, comments, or suggestions to doingharm@protonmail.com and join the conversation during your daily commute, while cleaning the house, or whenever you listen to your podcasts.
