🎙 Big Feelings: Emotional Regulation and the ADHD Brain

Emotional regulation is more than just staying calm. It is the ability to notice, name and respond to your feelings in ways that support you. But for people with ADHD, this can be especially challenging. Emotions often feel big, fast and overwhelming – like the volume is always turned up and there is no way to turn it down.

In this episode of the ADHD linguist, I explore what emotional regulation really means, how it works in the brain, and why it can be harder for those of us with ADHD.

I also look at how being bilingual or multilingual adds layers of complexity, especially for interpreters and translators who manage emotional content in more than one language while staying professionally neutral.

As someone training to become a certified ADHD coach, I see emotional regulation come up time and time again in coaching sessions, and in my own life. This episode blends science, lived experience and practical support to help you understand and work with your emotions more kindly.

If you have ever been told you are too sensitive, too reactive or just too much – this episode is for you.

Your emotions are valid. Your intensity is not a flaw. You are not too much – you are just enough.
