As strike summer becomes strike fall in Hollywood, I'm eager to get the perspective of writer and musician Paula Yoo on how this is affecting arts and entertainment workers.
Paula is a writer, musician, and producer, who holds memberships in both the Writers Guild of America and Local 47 of the American Federation of Musicians. Her children’s/Young Adult books have won many awards, including the Boston-Globe Horn Book Award, the National Book Award Longlist and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize Honor.
Her TV credits range from NBC’s The West Wing to The CW’s Supergirl, and she has sold multiple TV drama pilots and a feature. When she’s not writing or walking the WGA strike picket lines, Paula is a freelance violinist, working with orchestras, and also rock bands including Love, No Doubt, and King Crimson tribute band The Great Deceivers. Michael Manley equips professional musicians and performing artists with the off-instrument tools, skills, knowledge, and strategies they need to build and thrive in their careers.
He also helps musicians who are recovering from injury, returning or beginning instrumental study, or those who are transitioning from performance careers to develop a healthy artist mindset as they manage change.
