  • Stress and Suicidal Thoughts, Merrill M. Watts
    Mar 22 2023

Stress is a universal emotion that everyone experiences at one point or another in their lives. It is a normal physiological response to a perceived threat or demand. When we feel stressed, our bodies prepare us to either fight or take flight by releasing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. This can lead to physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, sweating, and heightened senses. While a little bit of stress can be beneficial as it can help us to perform under pressure, too much stress can have negative effects on our health. Chronic stress can lead to problems such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues, and cardiovascular disease. There are a number of things that society can do to help alleviate stress.

For example, employers can provide support to employees who are struggling to cope with work-related stress. This could include offering flexible working arrangements, access to mental health support, and training in stress management techniques. Individuals can also take steps to manage stress in a healthy way. This could involve exercise, relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation, and talking to friends and family about what is causing you stress. If you are struggling to cope with stress, it is important to seek help from a mental health professional.

  • Jillian Henderson, How Men can Go Beyond Societal Stigmas to seek Help in Mental Heath
    Apr 1 2022

Many men won't go to the doctors for mental help unless their wives or girlfriends make an appointment to schedule it. This shows that society needs to do a better job at taking most of the stigmas and pressures off of men to realize that their bodies and mental health wellness are just as important as anybody else's. Men need to understand this as some form of self-love, and self-care.

Join the conversation with Jillian Henderson as we talk about everything about men’s mental wellness. Jillian is a licensed clinical social worker in mental health every day. She is also a licensed addiction counselor, holding a mental health professional counseling credential in the state of Montana. She currently works for Western Montana Mental Health Center, the largest agency that provides Community Mental Health to people in northwestern Montana. Her role there is a clinical supervisor, having worked in this field since 2009. Let’s grow our men stronger together.
