About this listen

Welcome to the inaugural episode of The Mid-Life Map podcast, where we empower midlife women with strategies to thrive. I'm Dr. Ahne, your host, a physician specializing in preventive and lifestyle medicine, and a mom. Today, I'm thrilled to introduce the Mid-Life Map framework, a holistic roadmap designed to help you navigate the complexities of midlife.

Before diving into the framework, I shared my journey, from my roots in Cameroon to my medical career and life experiences, including a stint as an ophthalmologist, a transformative period in the Army Reserve, and my deployment to Iraq. These experiences, coupled with the loss of my mother during the COVID-19 pandemic and my health challenges, have shaped my approach to well-being and led me to specialize in lifestyle medicine.

The Mid-Life Map framework is built on four dynamic pillars: embracing change, cultivating purpose, fostering well-being, and building mastery. These pillars are supported by two key enablers: self-image and resilience. Together, they form a compass to guide midlife women toward fulfillment and growth.

I guided listeners through a visualization exercise to bring these concepts to life, encouraging them to embody the strength and resilience needed to face midlife challenges.

I invite you to join our tribe by subscribing to the podcast on your favorite platform. Share this episode with other women in your life, and if you're feeling generous, leave us a review on Apple to help grow our community.

Next week, we'll delve into lifestyle medicine and its role in addressing midlife challenges like weight gain and hot flashes. Join me as I share how lifestyle medicine has transformed my approach to these issues.

Thank you for embarking on this journey with me. Embrace your midlife journey with grit, grace, and gratitude. The Mid-Life Map is here to be your compass.
