Leadership is the key to success in every organization, and school districts are no exception. Dr. Kelvin Wymbs is the superintendent of Williamsburg County School District in South Carolina, and he's on a mission to highlight and celebrate the students and teachers in his district. In 2018, the South Carolina Department of Education took over control of the district due to academic and financial concerns, but that does not deter Dr. Wymbs, in fact that energizes him to focus on the positive, highlight the successes, and challenge his students and staff to exceed expectations.

Based on the 2022-2023 student enrollment data approximately 84% of the students are African American, 6% Caucasian, 1% Hispanic/Latino, 0.7% are Asian, 2.3 % are two or more races, and 6% are other. Students in grade PreK-12 attend one of the eleven schools. Williamsburg County is 934 square miles and home to two primary schools, three elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, and one career center.
