In Amos 7, we witness the Lord’s visions of judgment—locusts, fire, and the plumbline—revealing that God measures His people by His righteous standard. “Thus he shewed me” (Amos 7:1) reminds us that divine revelation precedes divine reckoning. We also see Amaziah’s rejection of truth, a sobering picture of religious resistance to God’s Word. From there, we transition to Obadiah, the prophet of divine retribution, where the pride of Edom meets the certainty of God’s justice: “The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee” (Obadiah 1:3). This lesson underscores a timeless truth—God holds nations accountable, opposes pride, defends His covenant purposes, and promises that “the kingdom shall be the LORD’S” (Obadiah 1:21).
