About this listen
To be accepted as an Afro-descendant, one must check certain boxes established by a certain media-political elite to reinforce their stereotypes and dominant position.
Having lived in London for 8 years, I feel like I have fewer boxes to check, especially that of being a French person from a certain social background, a certain geographical area, and above all, a certain ethnic minority.
Please note, these issues also exist in the United Kingdom. The difference is that they are not swept under the rug with phrases like "meritocracy" and "universalism," among others.
Sometimes, these issues surface quite abruptly, much like in those family gatherings where we promise not to talk about politics and then, well... What I criticize here is France as an institution. As a French person, I have a bit of a right to, don't I?
