Welcome to GenX Classic Sports, the podcast where we revisit the unforgettable athletes, teams, and moments that shaped our sports memories growing up.
In a state that produced Vida Blue, Ron Guidry, and Ben McDonald, GenXer Rusty Rugg is the greatest high school pitcher to ever play in Louisiana and the numbers back that up. He still ranks nationally in several pitching categories after graduating high school in 1989. ⚾
In this episode of GenX Classic Sports, we talk to Rusty about his pitching success and his team's dominance at Downsville High School in north Louisiana and how he navigated his way through the college and pro recruiting process, a national U.S. team gold medal, and ultimately the MLB draft and life in the minor leagues. ⚾🎙️
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more nostalgia-packed content covering GenX retro sports, and the athletes who defined a generation.
