    Once an object is removed from its original place, a new narrative commences. And, inherently linked to the removal of objects from their intended places come the subsequent issues of ownership, custodianship and the often times nebulous area of cultural appropriation. Reflecting on past collecting or looting of artefacts, many states are now attempting to repatriate their cultural treasures through legal mechanisms or via political negotiations. Some case of repatriation are considered successful – and other cases like the Parthenon… well... not yet successful.
