In 1986, Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded, causing a radioactive fallout with catastrophic effects on people and wildlife. We check in 40 years later to see how the critters in Pripyat and the surrounding area are faring. Brace yourself for some ooey gooey wolves and jacked up arachnids. This one’s gonna get weird!

  • Heath Hens: Dancing Devils of the Prairie
    Sep 2 2025

This week join us for an electrifying avian extinction dance off! But wait, wasn’t the heath hen just your typical prairie chicken? But wait, nope, you’re wrong. Actually it was a downright HEATHEN when it came to lekking and booming. We’re talking mating rituals so extreme and so powerful that anyone within their grassy perimeter was rendered helpless. What the heck are we talking about? Gonna have to listen to this thrilling episode to find out!

  • Haast's Eagle
    Aug 18 2025

Holy heck how'd we miss this one. This giant New Zealand bird was the biggest eagle to have ever lived! And its extinction is linked to the Giant Moa, which if you haven't heard is being resurrected by Colossal Biosciences with the help of Peter Jackson. Yes the Lord of the Rings one. Woah we have a lot to catch up on! Also a big apology to our regular extincty fans for taking so long to get a new episode up. WE'LL TRY HARDER NEXT TIME

Check out this great video by “FRANK” that help informed this episode:
