We revisit one of the most extraordinary survival stories in American history: the disappearance and rescue of 12-year-old Donn Fendler on Maine’s Mount Katahdin in 1939. What began as a family hike turned into a nine-day ordeal that captured national attention, sparked one of the largest search efforts in Maine’s history, and cemented Donn as a symbol of courage and resilience.
