About this listen

For the People is a podcast produced by Hush Harbor Media in which we explore the topics of faith, culture and justice from a Black progressive lens. Season 1 of #ForthePeoplePod explores the conversations surrounding 2020's Masks for the People campaign. MTFP live-streamed conversations between faith leaders, activists, and policymakers about the social disparities that COVID-19 uncovered in an effort to raise money for PPE in underserved communities. The conversations were so dynamic that we want to revisit them now to see how the nation has shifted on these issues a year into the pandemic.Join us as we go in depth on the topics that matter to us.© 2023 For the People Podcast Christianity Ministry & Evangelism Political Science Politics & Government Social Sciences Spirituality

    Jul 26 2021

In the Episode 5, the FINALE of For the People Podcast, we jump back to Pastor Michael McBride, W. Kamau Bell, and DeVon Franklin's discussion on mental health near the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The trio gets real about the ways  the Black community tends to deny our mental health concerns, how the newly-implemented lockdown would surely bring about its own set of challenges, and even how mental health knows no economic or social privilege.

Lori Webster Fore and Justin Warren from the Hush Harbor team then share how they've seen mental health issues play out more than a year into the pandemic by discussing their own challenges, the apparent increase in suicides, and how we can help ourselves when we notice we aren't feeling our best.
