About this listen

Hi, I’m Emily. After losing both my parents, I began writing and recording these quiet reflections on grief, from holiday heartache to the slow path toward healing and hope in my Eastern Orthodox faith. My hope is to walk beside you in your loss, offering gentle, faith-rooted companionship if you’re mourning a parent, spouse, child, or loved one. Current episodes: me reading my words. Soon, “Conversations” will share somber, raw and real interviews with the grieving. #ChristianGrief #GriefPodcast #FaithAndLoss #OrthodoxChristian #Bereavement #GriefSupport #TheosisEmily Blanco Christianity Ministry & Evangelism Spirituality

  • Reflections: Grief and Biblical Marriage – How Loss Strengthened Our Partnership
    Jan 4 2026

In this Reflections episode, Emily shares vulnerably how the deaths of her mother and father tested and transformed her marriage.

From midnight screams of grief to learning biblical submission and servant leadership, she reflects on unlearning independence, embracing God’s design for marriage (Ephesians 5, 1 Timothy 2:12), and finding deeper union through shared sorrow.

Especially for Christian women navigating loss within marriage and motherhood.

  • Reflections: Closing a Year of Grief
    Dec 30 2025

Good morning, friends. Thank you for joining this end-of-year episode of From Tears to Theosis: Reflections. I'm Emily, and whether you're here for the first time or a returning listener, this is our safe space to sit with grief—and with God.

As we stand on December 30, 2025, reflecting on a year of trials (for me, the loss of my father, closing a difficult chapter, and surrendering to God's calling as a mother and steward of grief), I share how Lamentations 3's abrupt shift from despair to hope became a lifeline. We dive into parallels with Job's unwavering faith, the dangers of grief unchecked, the power of the Jesus Prayer in our darkest pits, and God's boundless mercy that meets us no matter how far we've strayed.

Key verse: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)

As we step into 2026, may we carry compassion for ourselves and others walking through loss.

What about you? How has God shown His mercy to you this year, even in hardship? Share in the comments below—your story might encourage someone else navigating grief right now. If this episode resonates, please like, subscribe, and hit the bell for more reflections. Sharing this with a friend who needs hope today would mean the world.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us sinners. Amen.

  • Reflections: The Gift of Goodbye
    Dec 23 2025

    Episode Description:

In this deeply personal reflection, I share the story of losing my mother to cancer—not just the heartbreak of the loss, but the miracle of the friendship that carried me through it.

When my mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, I was living in a garage apartment, working as a server, and barely scraping by. I faced an impossible choice between poverty and being present for my mother’s final weeks. This is the story of how a friend’s generosity saved us from homelessness and gave me the greatest gift of all: the chance to say goodbye.

We discuss the harsh realities of the "working poor," the weight of anticipating grief, and how God uses the people around us to provide stability when our world is falling apart. Join me as we explore how even in our darkest moments of loss, we are being guided from tears toward Theosis.

Topics: Grief, Cancer, Friendship, Orthodox Christianity, Poverty, Motherhood.
