  • Hevy Duty: Climbing is Magic
    May 12 2026

Hevy Duty resides in Squamish. Hevy has contributed extensively to the local community in maintaining and developing crags & trails in The Smoke Bluffs. If you have cragged at the Bluffs, you've likely benefited from the hard work of Hevy, his partner Erica and son Ethan.

After leaving Yorkshire, Hevy has been based in North America for the last number of decades. He has crossed paths with many names you will recognise. We touched on a lot in this one.

    Cheers Hevy

  • Trevor McDonald: New Routing, Anvil Island, The Squamish Scene through the 90's & 00's, Adventuring with Friends & Family
    Apr 21 2026

Trevor is a well-known figure around Squamish. He has done tons of development in the Sea to Sky corridor and throughout the Howe Sound including the famed Anvil Island. Trevor is full of stoke for any adventure and has climbed, paddled and more around the world.

We chat about new routing in The Howe Sound and the development of Anvil Island, all done via boating or paddling, the Squamish scene and how its developed over the years. I also heard about a trip Trevor took with his mates up to The Vampire Spires & The Cirque of the Unclimbables.

A big theme for me during this experience was how much joy exists in simply adventuring with your mates. That's what it's all about.

    Cheers Trevor.

  • Annabelle McDonald: Comp vs Outdoor Climbing, Travelling Young
    Apr 19 2026

Annabelle grew up climbing around Squamish and travelling around the world with her Dad, Trevor, before getting involved in the comp scene. In 2018 she won Canadian Youth Nationals in Lead and after a break from comps won Canadian Junior Nationals for Boulder & Lead in 2025. Annabelle's exploits outdoors include the FA of The Golden Fleece on Anvil Island and travelling to Madagascar with the Arc'teryx team in 2025.

We chat about growing up climbing and getting into comps, taking a break from comps and returning, the different ways indoor & outdoor climbing motivate her and traveling with her Dad through her youth.

    Thanks Annabelle.

At the time of recording this I didn't have a podcast name yet ha.
