Goodbye burnout, hello confident, proactive leadership!

Hey, I’m Kayla Fahey-Ahrndt, MPH, MLS(ASCP)SBB…but you can call me KFA! I’ve got 13+ years of professional healthcare leadership experience, and I have 9+ years of management experience. I’m a mama of 3 littles, wife and best friend to my hubby who is also in healthcare, and coffee and planner obsessed.

When I first stepped into my first professional leadership role, I was promoted quickly! At the time, I was a new mama and had way less experience than those I was leading. I knew I needed to learn and grow in order to succeed in my role.

I lacked work-life balance and had no boundaries. I experienced burnout quickly by trying to people please and do everything myself. I worked long hours and my relationships suffered as a result.

I finally realized that I needed simple, effective strategies to help me get organized and manage my competing priorities.

I created my own daily management tool which helped me get organized, manage stress, achieve work-life integration. I quickly became the go-to leader for innovative healthcare leadership, and I was promoted again!

If you are ready to implement sustainable systems and strategies to help you get organized, ditch the burnout, and finally get the recognition you deserve, grab your coffee or bubbly and press play on my show while you rock your spreadsheets! It’s time to dive in!Kayla Fahey-Ahrndt | MPH, MLS (ASCP) SBB, Laboratory Manager, Healthcare Leader, Scientist

  • The Freedom Every Leader Is Really Looking For
    Jun 29 2026
The Freedom Every Leader Is Really Looking For As we celebrate 250 years of independence this Fourth of July, I want to explore a different kind of freedom—the kind every leader is really looking for. Not freedom from work. Freedom from constant reaction. Freedom from carrying your to-do list around in your head. Freedom to leave work on time, be present with your family, and lead with intention instead of urgency. This week has been a real test of that for me. With sick kids, getting sick myself, and a shortened holiday work week, I found myself relying on my Leadership Operating System more than ever. It didn't prevent life from happening—but it helped me navigate the chaos with clarity. In this episode, I'm sharing the three questions I ask whenever life interrupts my plans and how simple leadership systems create the freedom to think clearly, prioritize what matters, and protect your energy. In this episode, you'll learn: Why freedom—not productivity—is the goal of effective leadership The difference between reacting to work and leading with intention The three questions I use to prioritize during overwhelming weeks How a Leadership Operating System helps you make better decisions under pressure Simple ways to create more freedom in your workweek Free Resources 📋 Free Simple Task List: If you're feeling overwhelmed, download my free Simple Task List to capture everything in one place, organize your work, and identify your top 3–5 priorities (or even just 1–3 during especially busy seasons). ➡️https://kayla-fahey-ahrndt.myflodesk.com/simpletasklist 🧠 Ultimate OneNote Hub: Ready to build your complete Leadership Operating System? • You Know What Matters. So Why Are You Still Reactive?
    Jun 22 2026
You Know What Matters. So Why Are You Still Reactive? The Missing Link Between Reactive and Proactive Leadership

    Most leaders know what matters.

They know their priorities. They know they should review their goals. They know they should proactively plan their week.

So why do so many leaders still feel overwhelmed, reactive, and stuck in firefighting mode?

In this episode of Get Organized at Work, Kayla Fahey-Ahrndt shares a powerful shift in her leadership philosophy after reviewing results from the new Leadership Operating Score Audit.

    For years, she believed:

Awareness + Intention = Proactive Leadership with drives Strategic Results

But after working with leaders and analyzing assessment results, she discovered a missing ingredient: readiness.

    You'll learn:

    • Why awareness alone doesn't create change

    • Why leaders stay reactive even when they know what matters

    • The hidden cost of constant busyness

    • Why slowing down feels uncomfortable (but is often the key to moving faster)

    • How to build evidence that creates lasting behavior change

    • The connection between weekly planning, goal reviews, and proactive leadership

If you're struggling with overwhelm, productivity, time management, leadership effectiveness, project organization, or staying focused on strategic priorities, this episode will help you understand what's really keeping you stuck.

🎯 Take the free Leadership Operating System Audit and calculate your Leadership Operating Score—a simple assessment designed to help you identify strengths, uncover gaps, and pinpoint where your current systems may be creating friction.
