Ultraman Omega Episode 13 finally gave us the season’s clip episode… and I really do not understand why it needed to happen here.

In this review, I talk about why modern Ultraman clip shows keep killing momentum, why Omega’s worldbuilding feels weaker because of this episode, and how Tsuburaya could make recap episodes way more interesting without sacrificing budget or production time.

I also pitch several alternative ideas including:

    • Slice of life episodes

    • Ultra Q style mystery stories

    • Cooking competition chaos

    • Human sized Omega adventures

    • Better ways to use flashbacks and character agency

And yes… the thumbnail meme is absolutely intentional.

Are clip shows more than a waste of time? Could they be? How?

Ultraman Omega Episode 12 finally delivers on the emotional potential that has been buried inside this show the entire time.

I still think Omega is a fundamentally flawed series overall. Too many episodes have struggled with execution, characterization, and consistency. But this episode finally gives Kosei an emotional payoff that actually works and retroactively improves the previous episode in the process.

For the first time in a while, Omega and Kosei’s relationship genuinely felt compelling.

This episode finally explains WHY Kosei has been spiraling emotionally. His frustration was never really about public opinion alone. It was about identity, purpose, and validation. Once that clicked, the reunion between Kosei and Sorato actually landed emotionally for me.

    I also discuss:

    • Why Junichiro Ashiki’s writing worked better here

    • How Omega handles emotional catharsis

    • Why Ayumu continues to be one of the smartest characters in the show

    • The emotional core hidden inside Ultraman Omega

    • Why this episode gives me hope for the future of the series

Did Omega Episode 12 win you back? Or are you still frustrated with the show overall?

Ultraman Omega Episode 11 finally makes a kaiju feel genuinely horrifying.

The new monster’s design, the body horror elements, and the atmosphere of dread throughout the episode all work extremely well. But the episode also continues Omega’s frustrating habit of forcing Kosei into artificial character drama.
