Welcome to our first episode! We're starting off with probably the biggest weirdo in classical music, early 20th century French composer, Erik Satie. Satie was a tough sell for most of his life, writing music decades ahead of the time in which he lived. In the late 19th and early 20th century, classical composers were asking questions on what else could be done with the old methods and structures they used to write music. Satie's answer was unlike anyone else's at the time, writing music that explored simplicity, boredom, humor, repetition, and satire. He was also just a weird guy, a one of one. He hated the sun, started a fake(?) church, and was like, a total goth, all while constantly @ing people he didn't like in the newspaper.
This was very fun to make, so we hope you like it. Maybe we'll do more?????????????
