This episode concerns the new empire that is forming in Europe called the European Union. They are amassing power and influence, cutting new alliances, dissolving old ones. Now they are building an army for the purpose of defeating Russia. Boots on the ground in Ukraine shortly, with a 500 billion Euro spending package to back it up. Things are about to get interesting...

Remember last episode? It was about how the sick man in Europe is the EU. I stand by this thinking, two things can be true at the same time. The issue is that they backed themselves into a corner with their insane policies that seem designed to undermine the fundamentals that their society is built on. Now they are building an army with the intention of going to total war with Russia. When things are on the verge of collapse for a society, they go to war. Perhaps this is what we have been watching over the last 50 plus years of American foreign wars. This is what happens when an empire is collapsing.

Couple that news with Signal-gate, a manufactured scandal regarding the US backed fighting against Iran and it's proxies. America seems hell bent on eliminating Iran shortly. Lets see how this all plays out.

We are living through a geopolitical realignment the likes of which we haven't seen since the start of WW1. The "sick man of europe" was a term for the Ottoman Empire before the war to describe a formerly great and powerful player that had seen better days. I believe we are seeing that today but at a much grander scale. It seem as though Europe itself is on the brink of collapse, and is thrashing about wildly for relevance.

I firmly believe the escalation of the war in Ukraine is a direct result of Europe's energy crisis. Ukraine is sitting on massive undeveloped oil and gas that Europe needs so they can move away from dependence on Russia. Before the war Europe bought up to 40% of their energy from Russia. That has shifted dramatically since the war, with Europe buying much higher priced energy from other sources. This increase in energy prices is crushing European manufacturing and squeezing their population.

Europe is in a desperate situation with skyrocketing energy prices and a declining population. They can keep fighting over Ukraine, or switch to US supplied energy and effectively become our vassal. It appears that they have chosen war over reliance on the United States at their own peril. If this continues, there will be a hot war in Europe and we will be dragged into the conflict. Let's hope they come to their senses real quick for all our sakes.

It just so happens this is episode 42, and if you are a fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy you know what that means... Tangentially, Elon will be calling his first ship to Mars The Heart of Gold... Anyways, watch that silly movie already.

We start by talking about the wildfires in Cali, that failed state, and we steer into global events. We didn't have nearly enough time to get into the finer points of it all because there is way too much happening. The main problem with making a show like this is that we couldn't possibly cover everything in the granular detail it deserves. We have to cover the highlights and let you look up the stuff we are throwing out there to check us.

We are shifting out of the old news model where highly paid actors read the script that they are given and everyone says that is the truth. Now that the government propaganda machine has destroyed their credibility completely. It's up to us to find the truth. It takes a lot of time and resources as it turns out.

If you really step back and look at what you were getting with say a Fox News. You had to suspend your rational thought and just eat up what they gave you. There was no other story to compare with aside from the opposing view on something like CNN. They also didn't tell you the truth.

So if you have lived your whole life listening to the "news" and thinking you were an informed person you were tragically mistaken.

This gets us to today where you are listening to two yahoos spouting off about crazy stuff. Is that the truth? Hey, It's a lot closer to the truth than you've ever got that's for sure.

Basically, we all have to become our own news aggregators and glean information from as many sources as possible and make inferences. Good luck trying to sort it out some other way. I'm not telling you to take our word for it. This show is meant to get your feet wet and pique your interest so that you look at the information available and come to your own conclusions.

Either way, it seems like the rhetoric is way to high for something interesting not to happen. This episode seems like a nice summary of everything we have been talking about since our start, so it might be a good one to check out.
