  • Wabi and Sabi with Adam Wojcinski
    May 4 2020

Here is the tea. The podcast about contemporary tea culture with Anne Pawlak. Our guest today is luminary and tea master of the Ueda Soko way of tea Adam Wojcinski talking about the way of wabi and sabi.

The term 'wabi-sabi' is most commonly used and applied to anything relating to tea ceremony or arcane Japanese. In this podcast Adam unpacks and explains the dichotomy of Wabi and Sabi and why there is more to it than just rustic furniture and broken pottery.

Adam is the founder of the first online global school of Japanese tea ceremony called ‘Sōmu Shachū’ (www.uedasokochanoyu.com).

His teachings follow the Ueda Sōko school of chanoyu, which has grown out of the warrior class of Japan and is located in Hiroshima.

As translator of the formative manuscripts of chanoyu he has become an avid researcher into the beginnings of chanoyu as an art for spiritual awakening and lead him to Co-founder of the World Tea Gathering, a group of tea activists that explore the possibilities of tea as an art of togetherness.
